Round Lake

58-acre Round Lake was formed by glacial activity
nearly one million years ago. A two-mile trail encircles the lake. It is an excellent wildlife viewing area and you can expect to see wildlife ranging from gophers, muskrats and mink to bobcats, black bears and whitetailed dear.

The lake is only 37 feet deep, so it warms sufficiently for comfortable swimming. Campsites are shaded by towering western red cedars, western hemlocks, ponderosa pines, Douglas firs, and western larch.

Getting There: Round Lake State Park is located 10 miles south of Sandpoint just off US Highway 95. From Westmond travel 1.5 miles north. Turn west onto Dufort Road for two miles to the park entrance. If you are travelling from the north, go 8.5 miles south of Sandpoint to the turn off. There is a parking lot adjacent to the picnic area.
